Creating Old Craft Memories of Dying Crafts

Image
Have you ever sat and thought about the different crafts you did as a child that are dying out? On a recent visit to a craft group, I started thinking about different crafts we did as kids. All that came to mind was embroidery, knitting, and then I remembered that we made cushions from old hessian bags. Trying to remember how we did it was the problem.  I had been given an implement years ago and was still not sure how it worked. This was the implement So then I found some hessian and a collection of wool I still had no idea but found a simple picture of a pot plant with a flower in it.  Then the penny dropped. I threaded that thingy above with a strand of wool. Ten started poking it through the hessian, and that is all you do.  The back form loops, and as kids, that was the side we used on the outside of our cushions.  Every loop had to be cut. And yes, we cut them, because mum used to check our work. This was the side where you pushed the thingy through the h...

eBook The Logic of Leo The Walsh & Jenkins Case

Image
This ebook is about two kids playing detectives- Most kids at St. Jude’s Academy are worried about maths tests and canteen line-ups. Leo Walsh and Sarah Jenkins are worried about something else: The Truth. Leo has a "racing engine" for a brain. He sees the clues everyone else misses—the stray green thread, the hum of a hidden server, the one second of lag on a digital clock. But his brain moves so fast he often crashes into the wrong conclusion. Sarah is the logic to his fire. A tech-whiz with a habit of over-thinking, she knows that data doesn't have feelings, but people do. Together, they are the school’s unofficial—and highly effective—detective duo. From the vanishing of the legendary  Silver Nautilus  to the haunting wail of the  Midnight Whistle , Leo and Sarah must navigate a maze of high-tech heists, school-yard secrets, and digital ghosts. The Logic of Leo - The Wash and Jenkins Case .   This has four different stories for the detectives to catch ...

Seeing People for Who They Are : Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and Respect

Image
I would like to ask a question before I do this: Have you ever known someone with Dyslexia or Dyscalculia? I am asking because I have, and I was not impressed with how they were treated at school. The so-called clever kids always made fun of these kids.  That's why I wrote the following ebook. I decided to write this ebook in the hope that if it helps just one person, then it has done the job and is well worth the effort. I personally know of several people who have suffered from these problems as children and have been ridiculed and teased by other kids in school because of it. The funny thing is that the people who did the teasing have not succeeded as well as those whom they made fun of. How ironic, if only they knew. If you agree that people like this need more understanding, then please check this out HERE Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Grandma's Age Old Remedies - Still Used Today

Image
Many of us have walked out of a pharmacy shaking our heads, wondering how a tiny bottle of something could cost so much, or why the pharmacist just told us that the doctor’s prescription was for a product we could have bought over the counter. It’s enough to make anyone cringe. My grandmother, like so many from her generation, had a remedy for almost everything. As a child, I didn’t believe half of what she told me. I’d roll my eyes, mutter that it couldn’t possibly work. But over the years, I’ve learned that some of Grandma’s old tricks weren’t so silly after all. Many were passed down through families, shared between neighbours, and used long before pharmacies were on every corner. If interested in this you can read it HERE Why not share your grandma's ideas with us here
